چکیده
Objective: To investigate the effect of hyperbaric oxygen intervention on chronic wound healing in type 2 diabetes mellitus, and its influence on serum inflammatory factors, oxidative stress factors and angiogenesis related factors. Methods: Totally 78 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with chronic wounds treated in our hospital were randomly divided into 2 groups, 39 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine surgical wound intervention, while the observation group receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy combined with routine surgical wound intervention. The trend of the change of wound area were compared between the 2 groups. Creactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin 6 (IL-6), superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD-1), malondialdehyde (MDA), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and angiopoietin II (Ang-2) in peripheral blood before and after treatment in 2 groups were

Use of Multiple Adjunctive Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Modalities to Manage Diabetic Lower-Extremity Wounds
Objective: Various treatment options exist for wound healing; however, clinical assessment of the patient and the wound environment must be considered before determining an optimal wound treatment plan. Negative pressure wound therapy alone and/or with an instilled topical solution can be effective in adjunctive management of acute and chronic wounds. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has also been sho...
متن کاملCollagen synthesis, nitric oxide and asymmetric dimethylarginine in diabetic subjects undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
The main pathological condition in patients with impaired wound healing is diabetes mellitus. These patients have significantly low circulating nitric oxide (NO) levels because the stimulatory action of insulin on NO synthesis is absent. Additionally, asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), an inhibitor of NO synthase, is increased owing to the generation of oxidative stress. NO was thought to cont...
متن کاملUnexpected wound occurring following negative pressure wound therapy.
Dear Editors, A 67-year-old man with type 2 diabetes mellitus of 2 years duration was presented 4 weeks after amputation of a gangrenous and infected toe, with a large non-healing wound at the surgical site (Figure 1). Pedal pulses were non-palpable and he had severe loss of foot sensation. The patient had a poor diabetes control with a haemoglobin A1c level of 8·4% (normal 3·3–6·4%). Apart fro...
متن کاملSynergistic Effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen and Decellularized Human Amniotic Membrane on Full-Thickness Diabetic Wound Healing in Rats
Background and purpose: One of the common complications of diabetes is impairment of wound healing. The aim of the present study was to investigate the synergistic effect of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy and decellularized human amniotic membrane (dHAM) in healing of full-thickness diabetic wounds in rats. Materials and methods: In this experimental study, 60 diabetic male rats were randoml...
متن کاملACP Journal Club. Review: in patients with chronic diabetic foot ulcers, hyperbaric oxygen reduces major amputations.
Review scope Included studies compared usual care (e.g., control of glycemia, revascularization, debridement, off-loading, and metabolic and infection controls) plus HBO with usual care alone in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes and chronic lower-extremity ulcers attributable to diabetes. Outcomes included ulcer healing (complete epithelialization of the wound), major (above the ankle joi...
